New Series Gold Dalek

Derek was invited to help Derby's Debenhams Store raise money for Children in Need. He had a great time trundling around the store and "chatting" to the customers.

We were there at the invite of the Steve Smethurst (Deputy Store Manager) who seemed to enjoy our visit almost as much as we did!

The fit girls from Fitness First were doing a workout in the store window until Derek exterminated them
and then they fell down!

Not exactly Autons but great sports!

DR WHO'S DALEK IS A BLAST, SAY SHOPPERS

17 November 2005

Shoppers had an out-of-this-world experience when they visited a Derby store.

A Dalek, one of Dr Who's feared enemies, tried its best to exterminate visitors at Debenhams, in Victoria Street, yesterday.

And shoppers will be treated to more of the same today as the life-size replica - owned and operated by Derby man Nigel Shaw - travels around the store, collecting money for Children in Need.

Meanwhile, TV star Alison Hammond, from This Morning and Celebrity Fit Club, and actress Stephanie Dooley also visited the store to highlight a two-day shopping extravaganza.

Stephanie, who has the starring role in pantomime Cinderella, and Alison, who will play the Fairy Godmother, will be joined in the Assembly Rooms show, which runs from December 9 to January 8, by celebrities Darren Day and Paul Shane.
